Erika Freeman P’24, ’26, ’28, ’32 joined Poly’s faculty in 1995 and has been a much-loved and respected science teacher, Upper School Dean, advisor to Peer Leaders and Oasis Society, Dean of Faculty, softball and basketball coach, and an Interim Science Department Chair. A compassionate leader, in 2023, Erika was named Chair of the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging Department (DEIB). In this role and throughout her tenure, Erika has always worked tirelessly to ensure the DEIB Department helps every student and faculty member feel a sense of belonging. Providing students with the school environment necessary to thrive in is central to her work at Poly and culturally responsive practices are foundational to her teaching. Erika was named winner of Poly’s 2018 Spirit Award, an award presented to a member of the faculty or staff who embodies the values and spirit that Poly seeks to represent as an institution and encourage in its students.
